2004 年 3 月 9 日 星期二 【晴】

Recently I have watched two movies, one is Cold Mountain, and another is Master and Commander. I saw the film Cold Mountain in the UA Shatin on 19 February 2004. The play only cost me thirty bucks while the film lasted for two hours. It is a very good romance film. Compare Moulin Rouge with Cold Mountain, I found some similarities and differences. Both of them are romance films with a very simple plot. The messages are clear and direct. Nicole Kidman played as the leading lady in both films. She is one of my favorite actresses. Cold Mountain described a love story between a soldier and a pretty young lady in America, while Moulin Rouge talked about a playwright fell in love with a dancing girl of a nightclub in Paris. Both films ended in tragedy. In Moulin Rouge, Nicole Kidman died at the end of the play, while her boy friend was still alive. In Cold Mountain, Nicole Kidman was still alive at the end of the movie, while her boy friend passed away. The survival one lived for a long time under the power of love. In a nutshell, I prefer Moulin Rouge to Cold Mountain. Moulin Rouge impressed me much.

On 2 March 2004, I watched the movie Master and Commander – The Far Side of the World in AMC Theatre of Festival Walk in Kowloon Tong. Although the movie is not as good as I expected, it is still worth watching. The film cost me forty-five dollars. I think it is a little bit expensive. The movie lasted for two and half hours. The story describes the adventure of a captain and his warship. The play showed how hard to be a leader. I learned that it is not an easy job to be a commander. Being a commander, you should make commands in any circumstance even though you do not want to. A captain could make a wrong order sometimes, but he should make one. Some commands may not be popular, while the crew should follow. A leader should have an ability to lead a crew to complete the mission. It is the main duty of a commander. No one can come home until the mission is completed. A leader must protect the principle, the discipline, and the law at any price. I think it is the most difficult job for a commander. All in all, Master and Commander is a very impressive war movie. I learned that a lot from the film.

Today is my birthday. I am now 24. I am glad that Ka Po Chan, Ming Ho, Natalie Tsang and Chung Cheng celebrated with me at the Hua Guo Shan Restaurant in Shang Shui. I am very happy even though I footed the bill. We chatted about our work and I shared my work experience with them. I learned that Ka Po is really a smart boy with great potential after I observed his work in LMC today. Ming and Natalie are studious. They are diligent in their job. I like them.

By the way, I was surprised that Sam Wong, my colleague, remembered my birthday even though we are acquainted with each other for a very short time. Thank you.

Alan Lo is another person who remembered my birthday. He gave me a ring and sent a SMS to me. Alan is one of my good friends since we studied in secondary school.

Tracy Wong is the first person who sent a birthday message to me. She is my another good friend.

Cynthia Lau made me a phone call tonight. Cynthia is another friend who I met her in the university. I am glad that she remembered my birthday. She also sent me a birthday e-card. It is meaningful and I like it very much. Thanks.

In a nutshell, I had a happy birthday.

2004 年 2 月 8 日 星期日 【乍雨乍晴】

On 5th February 2004, I had a supper with ex-Rotaractors of HKBU. The meeting was gathered by our president, Linda P. We gathered at a café of the New World Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui. The meal started at seven o’clock in the evening, but I didn't show up until 8:10 because I had to finish my work first. Linda P, Amy Chan, Linda Lau, Pamela Chan, Stella Ho, Yau, Felix Wong and I attended the gathering. We chatted about our recent situation. I am glad that all my friends got a job they like. Some of them work in the business sector, the other in academic and social service. After the dinner, we took photos outside the café. We invited some passersby taking photos for us. All of us were smiling broadly. I remembered one of the pedestrians said, ‘very happy, very happy’. That was the words I want to say at that night. All the smiles came from our hearts. It is a very happy evening. It was indeed a memorable night of my life. We were on our way home around 21:40.

By the way, I look forward to seeing the photos that we took in that evening. The photos could approve what that pedestrian talking about.

We had a meal under a cold weather, but we gathered together in a warm atmosphere.

2004 年 2 月 2 日 星期一 【颳風】

After the staff meeting held last Saturday, most of our colleagues worried that it could be an earthquake in the company very soon. You can never tell what will happen in the Christian Action but something bad could be expected. Next meeting could be held tomorrow. I think it could be a very serious conference that I have ever had.

Lok Tang and I went to the flicks yesterday. We met in Shatin around 15:15. The film started at 17:10. In the meantime, we hung around in Shatin New Town Plaza. We visited many different stores, such as an electric appliance store for the DCs and printers; a bookstore, The Popular; a game centre, we played an electric game together. Lok told me that I was no good at computer games. I think so.

I adore Hollywood adventure movie, but Lok prefers the Hong Kong comedies. Finally, I suggest watching a war movie. We watched the film called "The Last Samurai" with Tom Cruise. The film is fantastic, and it just cost us forty dollars each.

After the film, we ate Japanese food together in a restaurant. Afterwards, we went home by KCR.

2004 年 1 月 7 日 星期三 【晴】

Recently, I have had meals with many friends. On New Year's Day, Yuke Leung and I had dinner in Tai Po Market. She talked about her career and future plan. It was her treat.

Eliza Kwan, May Wong, Ricky Yu and I had lunch on 3rd Jan 2004. Our meal lasted for two hours, from 11:30 to 13:30. We chatted about our work, including the work in the HKC. Eliza footed the bill.

On 5th Jan, Shine Lam, Lok Tang, Sam Wong and I had dinner in Pizza Hut after the long-lasting conference. We discussed the rosters of the border control points. But, Lok and I developed interest in digital cameras. We had long chatted on the DCs.

On 6th Jan, Fai Lau, Sam, Lok and I had supper in a Shanghai restaurant after the staff meeting. But Shine was absent in the meal because she was under the weather that day. Hope she recover soon.

I spent over a hundred bucks after the meals that I mentioned before. However, I enjoyed the meals with my friends very much.

2003 年 12 月 21 日 星期日 【乍雨乍晴】

Today is the last day that I led Team C. After the last function in December 2003, Team B and Team C are no longer under my supervision. To be perfectly honest, Team C is my favourite team. I like them, I miss them. God bless them.

2003 年 12 月 5 日 星期五 【炎熱】

I watched a movie in Shatin this morning. "Underworld" is a very good film. The story is talking about the vampires. I enjoyed the movie with potato chips and a can of coffee. The film lasted about two hours, from 12:20 to 14:30. It is a pretty long movie, but it just cost me thirty bucks. I like it very much. There are only few audiences in the cinema, about ten people, not counting me. Afterwards I hanged around in a shopping mall for a whole afternoon. I visited a few toyshops, bookstores and pet shops. I bought two books in the Popular and bought two VCDs in the Blockbuster. I spent about two hundred dollars today, transport fee included.
