My FYP

My final year project is in collaboration with a company to add a wireless functionality to the existing credit/debit card reader. in this project, we will try to use a new wireless protocol called zigbee. this protocol is supposed to be power saving, efficient and much cheaper than bluetooth. we have decided to start it early in august and so we held a meeting with the CEO and the senior engineer of that company to discuss the requirements. to build such a zigbee compatible network, we need to buy a development kit. the development is worth US$1999 and it took around two month to deliver. during the waiting period we can do nothing but reading the specification of the protocol. when it arrived in early november, we found that the software can support only 32 files. to develop zigbee compliant product, at least 100 files need to be supported. therefore a more powerful software is needed and an order has been placed. it costs US$2500 and so up to now the company has sponsored us US$4500 (HKD$32000) for the tools only. the software originally scheduled to be delivered on 14th jan but now it is postponed to 8th feb. can you imagine how large the pressure I am under?

晨早六點鐘起，梳洗，食早餐，準時六點半出門口。一個人從山上往山下走，早晨的中大別有一番滋味。以下是我今天考試的戰績。
listening - 表現一般，miss 左幾題答案，點解section 4比section 3 容易呢？
reading - 踩盡油，去到盡，用左我十成功力，應該考得唔錯。
writing - 油盡燈枯，夕陽無限好，有少少失手。
speaking - 老毛病，過份緊張，手震，噁心，四支無力，腰酸背痛，口吃，但求有６分

the whole testing lasts for two and a half hours. it is divided into two parts. they are aptitude test and verbal test.
for the aptitude test, it consists of three sections. the first section is about matrix manipulation through a set of rules in each question. we are given three matrixes and four questions are attached to them. we have to finish it within fifteen minutes. here I show one of the questions I met: "interchange V and S in row 3, what is the symbol above V now in this row?". it is the easiest question and many others are lengthy and difficult. the second section is about number sequence. there are twenty eight questions and we need to finish them in four minutes. it is a typical questioin appears in aptitude test and not worth explaning. the last section just likes certificate level maths mc questions. I think you all are very familiar with.
for the verbal test, the first part is a listening test. the tape is played twice and the questions are not difficult. the second part is an mc section which is intended to test our grammatical familiarity. the last part is a case study in which there are a letter of complaint and an emergency email from factories. based on the information, we need to write a letter to the customer to deal with the complaint. that's all.
