As there are only two weeks before the deadline for reprioritizing your final 5 choices, I hope you will consider putting the Integrated BBA Program at CUHK (4202) as your first choice.



Integrated BBA Program (4202)

The Integrated BBA Program at CUHK is a comprehensive business undergraduate program that equips our students with business knowledge in all functional areas. If you have not made up your mind which functional areas you want to concentrate in, you can know more about each functional area when you take the foundation core courses during Year 1. In Year 2 you can choose up to 2 concentration areas based on your interest. Yes, it is totally based on your interest and we do not consider your academic performance when approving your concentrations. The most popular choices include finance, marketing, international business, human resources management, logistics and supply chain management.



Our Integrated BBA Program is a tough program because you need to take from 22 to 27 business courses, which is the most demanding BBA program in Hong Kong. For the upper level concentration courses, you can choose from over 70 courses, which is also the largest selection in Hong Kong.



Double Majors

I sent you an e-mail last week informing you that the Senate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong approved on June 8, 2005 a new policy that CUHK students can be granted Double Majors if they could complete the requirements of two majors within the normal period of study. We have explored the possibilities for Integrated BBA students and find that it is possible to have Professional Accountancy or Insurance, Financial and Actuarial Analysis as your second major. You can fulfill the requirements of both Integrated BBA and Insurance, Financial and Actuarial Analysis with as little as 122 units. You can also fulfill the requirements of both Integrated BBA and Professional Accountancy with as little as 124 units.



Outstanding Business Student Academy

In addition to the well-designed academic curriculum, we also offer soft-skills training through the Outstanding Business Student Academy. Seminars on personality profile assessment, professional grooming, table etiquette, career development and presentation skills, etc are mainly offered by professional consulting firms. Other privileges of OBS include special Study Abroad Program, guaranteed exchange opportunities, priority in internship placements, and attending business seminars for MBA and EMBA students. Fifteen Year 1 IBBA students with the highest HKCEE + HKALE results are eligible to join OBSA. Year 1 students who have a cumulative GPA higher than 3.40 will also be invited to join OBSA in their second year of study.



Overseas Exchange Programs

The Business Faculty at CUHK sends out about 200 students to overseas exchange every year. In most cases the credits earned from our exchange partners can be transferred back to CUHK and you don't need to extend your study period. Our exchange partners include the most prestigious schools in the world, including the Wharton School of Business, U of Michigan, U of Texas at Austin, U of Southern California, U of Western Ontario and U of Toronto, etc.



Business Faculty International Summer Program

We are offering summer courses through the International Summer Program starting from summer 2005. We have invited professors from renowned universities in the US, including University of Texas, University of South Carolina, University of Illinois and City University of New York, to teach at CUHK during the summer 2005 session. We expect half of the students in these summer courses to come from overseas universities. By taking summer courses, you will not only be immersed in a totally English learning environment, but will also enable you to fulfill the requirements of a second major within 3 years. Class Size

We at CUHK are greatly concerned about the quality of learning. While we admit over 600 students every year to our undergraduate business programs, we limit the number of students in each class to around 50 so that our teachers can maintain interaction with the students in class.



Language Policy

CUHK has a multi-lingual policy and therefore we offer courses in both English and Cantonese. While 100% of courses in the International Summer Program are offered in English, about 60% of our classes during regular terms are offered in English (except for the Hotel and Tourism Management Program which offers all courses in English). Because of our small class size policy, all of the core courses are offered in multiple sections. You will have no difficulty in fulfilling all of your major requirements by taking courses offered in English if you choose to.
