Herin get up at six something in the morning, I wasn't in good sleep last night.
A bit stress about not yet finishing my essay; so get out of my bed at 7:30 and start doing my essay.
It sucks, or I should say I suck.
Write something crappy, anyway, better than nothing.

Have a full breakfast as I won't have time for lunch.
First psycho classes, I got 3 questions wrong in the quiz! (out of 20 questions, crappy.)

Geography, too tired that I am out of focus.
Luckily, still about to jot down the stuff on ppt.
Good news is I don't have lesson on Thursday and the mid-term would be postpone to next Thursday.
Bad news is, I have one more reading to do.

I know it is an endless cycle. After struggling with the essay, I struggle with readings and sleep late for meeting deadlines for essays....
Of course, nightmare follows the night before handing in essay.
Well, but I know I can make through this.

I think I have gain weight, which is BAD NEWS!!!><

It is really freaking when we were still on the street finding the bus stop in Downtown 8:30 pm at night.
When suddenly a stranger walks near you and mumble something, or didn't let you go even you ignore it, well....I am really terrified.
At one thought, I have thought that would we be possible to find the bus stop? What if we do not?

The bus finally come, it is a rescuer for us. The driver is nice, asking where we were going as she afraid that we take the wrong way bus.
After a long way of worry, we finally arrive at UCLA.

So tired after 2-day-disneyland trip.
After a shower, I go to bed directly la.

Get up at around 9:00 in the morning. The sunshine here is great as usual and so I go down outside the dining hall and study.
A squirrel hides in the bushes and walk carefully, finally it take up its courage and walk out to the other side, lovely creature~=]
Spent an hour finish the chapter on Promethean.

Can't concentrate after lunch, so turn to revise Psychology.
Much biology stuff, nice!
I really love to study biology, esp. human biology, I wish I had done better than in AL, and I should have pursuit my dream by now.
But I have to let go, I admit that it is overwhelming, the feeling is less strong now.
And I think a year is enough to move forward.
Put forward a step to my new plans in life.
Still, it is sad, you know.

Night, still struggling with the essay, I hate this.
State the flaws of survivalists? The suckiest thing is that I can't find any problem with it!!><

Today I have a day off.

Watch 向世界出發, then finally practice flute.
Good that Mabel and Herin are not here so I would not be disturbing them la.
Can’t get good sense on rhythem....

Finally back to my readings. Not too difficult, just a lot. There are almost 200 pages of readings, add oil!
Luckily, the content is not too difficult so far, some are covered in classes, and much more details in them. So can help we better understanding of the lesson ge.

Tonight I have to do whatever I can to ko that 3-cm-thick readings!! Fighting~~

Disneyland I am coming!!!!

今日係我黎到UCLA第一日見到陰陰地既天氣。

琴晚原本諗住瞓一個鐘再起身睇readings ga, 不過一睡不醒，凌醒三點幾先醒lor，但都熄晒燈la，咁就繼續瞓lor。
發夢，exam, present同readings 的朋友，我想死……

今朝七點半起身，食完早餐返上房練多幾次第一次既speech，今次唔計分，但下次個jokes就開始計la!><
還是忍不住喊左出黎，我都唔知點解會有咁大壓力，但我真係好驚會fail 呢!
點睇我都做唔到係2個星期睇晒communication 9個chapters去考mid-term, geog仲要交3份essay，真係唔知點算，好需要多ｄ正能量！

雖然好唔願意，還是去了上堂。
跟sarah說了我很有機會drop這個course，因為太大壓力了。她也稍稍說了她的看法。但我也很掙扎，感覺是突然drop了它，第一對buddy是很irresponsible的，第二，在外國讀書應該要tough一些，唔可以少少困難就放棄吧！
Prof.畀我地睇左下堂講jokes既一d modeling片短，大概知道要做些甚麼，有信心得多了。
介紹study buddy，真有點緊張呢！大家手中也沒有拿着cue card，好叻!
Prof. Miller讚我good tie up，意想不倒，真係有d開心ga! =]

其他同學陸續講speech，大都很不錯，間中有一兩位會較緊張講得太快／唔記得左要講d乜，但其他人真係超好。

Geog堂，繼續是上CK Wong堂的感覺，見到ppt的字就抄抄抄。不太完全明白，但回宿肯定會看看了。
Break後(btw,instructor畀20分鐘break我地! 20mins! 係香港都唔會有咁多~:p)講返readings既內容，明白多了。

Edward黎sit 堂(遊說緊佢take呢個course la~kee)，落堂同佢去Murphy Hall攞health card，之後捉佢陪我買note book (我o個本太細唔夠寫)，thx!
大家都好肚餓，返Rieber Hall食late lunch，有d同學仔都係度~=]
鮮藍色啫喱係乜野味?
就係……..Qoo既青提子味! (但佢隻色睇落真係令人好唔想食)

返hall，睇左2集向世界出發，一路睇開始諗清楚drop唔drop。
我覺得都係ability的問題，同埋我畀自己太大壓力了，成日擔驚受怕，發惡夢瞓唔到都唔係辦法。
黎呢度讀summer programme jei，應該係開開心心gei。所以還是轉科好了。
同埋有香港同學仔一齊讀，應該會supportive好多。

打左電話返香港同媽咪講，都好supportive la。當然佢都有話叫我唔好三心兩意，轉左又想返轉頭(因為我細個係咁lor)
其實上左中四我已經改呢個壞習慣，所以好肯定唔係一時衝動同三心兩意既結果。

今晚靜靜的，好好整理一下思緒，看看readings，聽日做埋篇essay就可以開開心心去Disneyland玩lu! =]

是日行程係去China Town，搭車搭左爆耐ar!
原來我地可以去Bruin café 買野食，d三文治好大份lei!!

搭巴士，好dun好dun ar。成班人嘈嘈閉，引人注目ar。
Peggy要去洗手間，所以中途落左車，去左醫院既急症室借洗手間，又引來counter的奇異目光，所以我都係出發去等好了。

之後要搭返巴士去china town，真係無乜特別，係有條龍既牌坊lor。同埋d地方好舊，好似返左九十年代初咁~哈哈
不過都有d擔心，真係人跡罕至，大家都睇實d財物。
去左旅行社，老闆娘識講廣東話ga，好親切!hee
D團只可以三、六出發，咁我地只可以六、日、一lu，但有點麻煩，因為我8/7 mid-term，但我七號晚先返到去……. Ar!!!><
不過我都係會去ga la，最多帶埋laptop同readings去lor…..
有少少灰tim….

走既時候等巴士，有位墨西哥既伯伯話：「you have so much money」
嚇親我地，但阿Jey同佢傾計lor，我地好擔心。
終於上車lu，又有意外la!
Eva、Elaine同宋歌佢地上左部巴士，但full左，跟住就閂左門la。我地呆左……
不過後面有架黎左，我地上左去先。Sunset條路真係好長好長ar!!!!!!
無lala上左個廿幾歲既男人坐左係我地班人中間既一個位wor，佢逗tina講野，跟住又問佢where are you going?
當然唔想同個陌生人講我地係邊度黎ga la，tina好醒咁答:「we are going home」
跟住佢即刻問我地攞5 buds lor! 理由都唔講…..完全係個頭鑿左「騙子」兩隻大字!
於是我地全程好似考中化口試咁，所有野轉晒廣東話，一句英文都唔用。
個atmosphere真係好恐怖……好驚。
佢之後仲有掂Tina，嚇到佢縮開左，跟住就挨去我o個邊lor，我咪即係tun前坐lor，好驚好驚。
好在佢最終係Beverely Hill度落車先，返到UCLA先鬆口氣，學校真係安全好多!

驚險的一天!但都係旅行既特別經歷。

Didn't have good sleep last night. I guess I am still not used to the bed.
And easily woken up by other noise. There was a car 倒後at around 4:00am, the warning sound it emitted woke me up! And I can't sleep again.
Plan to get up at 8:30 but I get out of bed at 7:30 la.

Breakfast at Ribier hall canteen then go back to practice flute (songs only, I am afraid tone ex. would disturb others)

Communication study lesson.
When I check the venue on web, it shows it is at Hains 118. Arrive there on time and saw other students. We have waiting for 15 mins and the Prof. have not come! :o
Strange....Then 2 girls volunteered to go and check. They later send a SMS to one of our classmate that the class was conducting in Royce Hall 164.
How come the web info is not up-to-date?!

I am scared off by other classmates. Most of them are native speakers, how could I be a patch with them??
And the workload is heavy, every lesson, we have individual presentation time for different assigned topics. And the duration varies form 2- 6 mins.
Actually only the first one, talk about a joke, is of 2 mins ja....
I have no idea how I could tell a joke in English! You know the culture difference make them difficult to understand the joke in Chinese, vice versa.

Next lesson is Geog, it sucks.
The lecturer is good and humors, but I am not able to understand his jokes. When others laugh, I don't know what was going on.=.=''
And so many屈機people. The topics have a wide coverage, from geography, politics, environment, biology to economics.
People seem to know everything in details except me.
They talk about that Canada is the major oil supply party to the US and yet US is still claiming to discover new oil resource in artic region because they don't want to rely on middle east.
And when it talks about 911 incident, all I could is keep my mouth shut, I don't know most of the words!!><
Killing me.
This course is as harsh as communication study. It requires us to write an essay of 500-1000 word EVERY WEEK!!
And not only writing the essay, we have to read 3 papers beforehand..... I wonder whether I can have any trips from now on....

Octa-frustrated.....
Never imagine that UCLA is that harsh. Clare said every year, over half of the students would get an A for the courses they took. I would be thankful if I can get a credit.

Go to UCLA store to buy VHS video tape for communication classes (as our performance would be taped)
I don't know what VHS video type is so I ask the counter directly. The staff shows me the way, and when I come the rank, I find VHS video tape is actually 錄影帶.=.=''
Poor English...><
Then go to book store to buy textbook for communication classes. It is relatively cheap when compare to the price of textbooks that my trip-mates have to buy.
~HKD$400 la (2nd hand book)
The used books are very new and no main difference with the new one, don't know why the books in US sell at such a high price la.
HK is much better.

Late lunch at canteen. Not much to choose from. Only have a burger and salad.
Meeting at Jay’s dorm to talk about our weekend trip to Disneyland.
Now, the trip is shortened to 2 days only, one more day left for revision, which is good.

Night, finish my warm up ex.(non-graded one) for communication study for introducing my study buddy la.
Still worry about the jokes next Tue. Anyone have any good suggestions or ideas???? I urgently and badly need your help!! Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~~~~~

Play for a while after finishing the notes of speech. Now time to do the UNFINISHED reading, should place geog in a higher rank.
I don't want to keep silence or insane in class la....><

Uploaded the photos la and edited some part of yesterday's diary.

Keeping doze off when I was typing the long long day 1 entry last night and constantly made mistakes, this make the progress extremely slow la.

Get up at 9:30AM and go to Murphy Hall to get our health insurance form and photocopy the passport and I-20.
Many grand and traditional buildings locate on the campus, they are old and yet beautiful.
However, they look similar; wonder whether I would mix them up when I have my classes/ exams.


Meet the UCLA's mascort—Bruin, which is a bear la~hahaa


Come across more and more people on our way. And meet another student form CU, Edward (he is from UC), in Murphy Hall.
Hahaa~ Cantonese helps us to recognize each other easily.

Lunch@ Ribier Dining Hall of course.
I am so full. Only have a very small dish of baked macroni and a bowl of bean soup ja ma....Don't know why.

Stroll around in Westwood. Nothing special but very tired.
Go to supermarket to buy some necessities, wa! The price level in the US is really really high!!!!

I don't know the cashier would only get me changed with notes and coins are form machines automatically; when I realized that, the woman behind me has grasped all the coins in the mouth of the machine, including my $0.75 ar!!!><

Ask the front desk to see where I can find hot drinking water (no pantry in the hotel and no hot water is provided in canteen, either. They seems to have no idea what I am talking about.
The RA told me that perhaps I can use the kettle to heat the water....=.=''
How come a student hostel don’t have a kettle?!

Dinner, eat a bit more then lunch la.
A bit sick and have to eat 喇叭牌正露丸la.
Ada is a good girl because she keeps her promise of not drinking cold drinks la~hee

Night, meeting about how to spend this weekend. We decided to go to Disneyland la!!
Yeah~~~~ but not yet book inn/hotel la, should act quickly, meeting on tomorrow again, good luck with us.

Receive an email from my Geography Professor, he had prepared the class reader for us but.... We have to pay $50 for that!!
What?! In HK, we never have to pay for our class materials lei... And HKD400 is really expensive. But I should be thankful that the course does not require textbook la, which would be ~ HKD1000 for each of them and ~HKD 600-800 for second hand book....
The price index in the US is really high...><

First time to type a 3X hour/day diary ! So much to write lei~

Wake up by mum in early morning for prayer, then I have my final checking and packing of luggages.
I have LOST my Mickey mouse USB!!!!!!!!><
I remember I have placed it of the café desk ga, but I couldn't find it anyway.... Just in time to ask Ho Yin whether he would have a spare USB and thanks God, he has one!

The 2 luggage are really heavy! A bit late to the airport coz the airport bus 係度兜黎兜去, it set off at Choi Hung, where I get on, then to Sang Po Kong, To Kwan Wan, Jordan, TST etc.
Of course, I make good use of the time to SLEEP! :p
Actually not thoroughly asleep gei, just have a rest la.

Check-in, the staff seems to be green and know nothing about the procedures.
It takes a long time for successfully having the 2 boarding pass la (originally she only gives us one.... So how can we go from Korea to LA? Haha)

Don’t worry about me too much la. I promise I won't drink cold drinks...for 5 days or less la~kakakaaaa

The plane is a bit delayed. Our tickets states that the flight is without meal but we were served with meals! ^^
I choose the Korea meal and it looks really nice and tastes good as well!!

As my TV has some programming error, no sound can be emitted even the flight attendance has reset the TV for 3 times.
I was given a fruit dish as complementation, I was surprised la!
(P.S. later mabel told me that the fruit dish is only enjoyed by first-class-passenger ga ja! Wow~ )

Now waiting in Korea airport for transfer. Unluckily, I can't go onto the Internet la.
The Korea airport has changed a lot ar, it is very new and fashionable (when compared to my visit to it 8 years ago... :p)

Korea airport has a counter in the transfer area to teach visitors to make traditional Korean handicraft. Something that resembles HK Airport’s 兒童樂繽紛 despite the age group of joining is much broader.
We use traditional Korean paper, Hanji, to stick on to the box, the product is quite beautiful ga~ =]


First time to take such a long flight la, 11 hours, how many things I will do despite sleeping?? Tell you later~kee

11-hour-flight is really a hard job!
Soooooooo boring. And the plane we t take is quite old; the film supply is in very limited amount and are of ages.
Can't have a through sleep and being constantly wake up for every 1 hour.... Finish reading 林夕既<<我所愛的香港>>, 頗有哲學味道的內容。
Bored to death.....

Can't sleep well and I open a slit of the window and get a taste of the beautiful sunrise.
Finally can walk on ground again, feeling so great!

Being asked strange questions by the customs staff…. O-mouth again.
Finally find the supershuttle to UCLA la.
The hostel is so...........don't know how to describe.
Just know that, when I am back to CC in late Aug, I would be thankful to all I have.

Mine is a triple room that is changed form a double room. The facilities despite the bed and desk is of 3, the other are all of 2!
Including the internet service, electrical pluges....etc. =.=''
The hall assistance said we should buy a splitter and拖板to fit our own need. But shouldn’t the hall provide that to us?
Besides Mabel, the other roommate comes from Korea. As she does not bring along her laptop, I use her lane 線位la.
The wardrobe is no better. It has a basket fixed on the door for us to put things in. But one of the screw falls off in a sudden and so the basket....=.=''

All rooms are without air conditioning. Okay at night but it is very very stuffy in the afternoon at such a high temperature.

Orientation for international students is very bored. Talking about regulation, rules by rules which I don't think students are going to violate
Learn the 'A clap', something like what we called 'beat' in CU. I think our 'satisfy beat' is much better~:p

Dinner at Rieber Hall canteen. Buffet, nice that there are many vegetables and fruits to choose from.
I choose a pizza and salad, an banana and orange. Nice~=]

2b 寬頻電話is a bit unstable in my laptop. Always have to restart it. But it is good enough to make some calls to my family la.
Thanks Step and my 'doctor' la.

I eventually determined to drop French, which I really want to learn, and take Geog- Global Environment and Development. Sounds interesting as well and I don't have to give up communication which I desperately want to try.
Learning a language needs time, I and prefer spending the time for going trips instead. Coz I don't think the probability of re-visiting the US is high. Really don't like such long-hour-flight.


P.S. Probably I am gaining weight, I would like to deny this but not really possible.
You know, all you can do on plane is eat, hea and sleep, and the food provided by Asiana is very delicious ar~

I am flying to UCLA tomorrow! Can't convince myself that this is true.
Actually I have a lot of worries la, but things will go as they are. There is a Chinese old saying '船到橋頭自然直' ma.
Should try to be more optimistic!

Get up at 9:00a.m.
And continue with my packing. Then practice flute for a while, only practiced 2 times this week, how can I have lesson today?!
Hang the laundry, so good that the sun is coming out again! I guess the clothes must be happy to be sunbathed~kee

Thanks my 'doctor' for coming to have a body check for my laptop.
The 2b online telephone problems can’t be solved, I feel helpless.... I can't even help a bit with the stuff.

Still I put the book into the return box la, and how to pay my fine of late return?
I have no idea, just wait until I am back.

Good to learn form Mabel that we can carry two luggages with us. So I need not compress everything la. ^^

Night busy with fixing the laptop. Actually I’m not busy, only my doctor busy doing the operation jei~:p
