完全唔 make sense

:)
quotes of Einstein (sources: http://thinkexist.com/quotes/albert_einstein/28.html)
“I never think of the future. It comes soon enough.”
“Now he has departed from this strange world a little ahead of me. That means nothing. People like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”
“It is not so very important for a person to learn facts. For that he does not really need a college. He can learn them from books. The value of an education is a liberal arts college is not learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think something that cannot be learned from textbooks.”
“Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment”
“Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: It transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural and the spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful unity.”
“Reading, after a certain age, diverts the mind too much from its creative pursuits. Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking.”
“Perfection of means and confusion of goals seem - in my opinion - to characterize our age”
“To me the worst thing seems to be a school principally to work with methods of fear, force and artificial authority. Such treatment destroys the sound sentiments, the sincerity and the self-confidence of pupils and produces a subservient subject.”
“It is easier to denature plutonium than to denature the evil spirit of man.”
“We all know, from what we experience with and within ourselves, that our conscious acts spring from our desires and our fears. Intuition tells us that that is true also of our fellows and of the higher animals. We all try to escape pain and death, while we seek what is pleasant. We are all ruled in what we do by impulses; and these impulses are so organised that our actions in general serve for our self preservation and that of the race. Hunger, love, pain, fear are some of those inner forces which rule the individual's instinct for self preservation. At the same time, as social beings, we are moved in the relations with our fellow beings by such feelings as sympathy, pride, hate, need for power, pity, and so on. All these primary impulses, not easi ly described in words, are the springs of man's actions. All such action would cease if those powerful elemental forces were to cease stirring within us. Though our conduct seems so very different from that of the higher animals, the primary instincts are much aloke in them and in us. The most evident difference springs from the important part which is played in man by a relatively strong power of imagination and by the capacity to think, aided as it is by language and other symbolical devices. Thought is the organising factor in man, intersected between the causal primary instincts and the resulting actions. In that way imagination and intelligence enter into our existence in the part of servants of the primary instincts. But their intervention makes our acts to serve ever less merely the immediate claims of our instincts.”
quotes that I can relate to vipassana:
“Keep on sowing your seed, for you never know which will grow -- perhaps it all will.”
“I know quite certainly that I myself have no special talent; curiosity, obsession and dogged endurance, combined with self-criticism, have brought me to my ideas.”
“Time and space are modes by which we think and not conditions in which we live”
“The further the spiritual evolution of mankind advances, the more certain it seems to me that the path to genuine religiosity does not lie through the fear of life, and the fear of death, and blind faith, but through striving after rational knowledge.”
“Possessions, outward success, publicity, luxury - to me these have always been contemptible. I believe that a simple and unassuming manner of life is best for every one, best both for the body and the mind.”
“When I was still a rather precocious young man, I already realized most vividly the futility of the hopes and aspirations that most men pursue throughout their lives.”
“It is a magnificent feeling to recognize the unity of complex phenomena which appear to be things quite apart from the direct visible truth.”

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”
“A perfection of means, and confusion of aims, seems to be our main problem.”
“It is the theory that decides what can be observed” (超對, 就像我們既定的價值觀, 我們的文化背景, 我們戴著甚麼顏色的眼鏡, 便看見甚麼顏色的東西, 並認為只有這種顏色才是真實)
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
“Don't listen to their words, fix your attention on their deeds.”
“Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.”
“Women marry men hoping they will change. Men marry women hoping they will not. So each is inevitably disappointed.”
“The discovery of nuclear reactions need not bring about the destruction of mankind any more than the discovery of matches”
“It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure.”
“The ideals which have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully have been kindness, beauty, and truth”
“Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
“There's a Genius in all of us.”
“I am neither especially clever nor especially gifted. I am only very, very curious.”
“Never regard study as a duty, but as the enviable opportunity to learn to know the liberating influence of beauty in the realm of the spirit for your own personal joy and to the profit of the community to which your later work belongs.”
“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”
“A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?”
“The thinking that we are has brought us to where we have already been.
In order to go somewhere else, we must think in a different way.”
“Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to a divine purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: That we are here for the sake of others...for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy. Many times a day, I realize how much my outer and inner life is built upon the labors of people, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received.”
“A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years, but a photograph always remains the same. How nice to look at a photograph of mother or father taken many years ago. You see them as you remember them. But as people live on, they change completely. That is why I think a photograph can be kind.”
“Academic chairs are many, but wise and noble teachers are few; lecture-rooms are numerous and large, but the number of young people who genuinely thirst after truth and justice is small.”
“Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love.”
“This crippling of individuals I consider the worst evil of capitalism. Our whole educational system suffers from this evil. An exaggerated competitive attitude is inculcated into the student, who is trained to worship acquisitive success as a preparation”
applicable 在 vipassana 的 quotes
“My mind is my laboratory”
“Reality is merely an illusion, although a very persistent one”
“Setting an example is not the main means of influencing another, it is the only means.”
“Any fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius-and a lot of courage-to move in the opposite direction.”
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving”
“The high destiny of the individual is to serve rather than to rule...”
“The only source of knowledge is experience”
“The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. The religion which based on experience, which refuses dogmatic. If there's any religion that would cope the scientific needs it will be Buddhism....”
“Many times a day I realize how much my own life is built upon the labors of my fellowmen, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received”
“A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

ART HK vernissage
Einstein
Special theory of Relativity, General Theory of Relativity (E=MC2)
special theory is related to light (the highest speed is 300,000km per sec), length, speed
general theory is related to the relationship between acceleration and gravitation
“Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school.”
“Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted.”
“If A equals success, then the formula is A equals X plus Y and Z, with X being work, Y play, and Z keeping your mouth shut.”
“Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”
“If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?”
“Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.”
“Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them.”
“I have no particular talent. I am merely inquisitive.”
“It's not that I'm so smart , it's just that I stay with problems longer .”
“I am a deeply religious nonbeliever - This is a somewhat new kind of religion”
“We still do not know one thousandth of one percent of what nature has revealed to us.”
“A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.”
“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.”
“The true value of a human being can be found in the degree to which he has attained liberation from the self.”
“After a certain high level of technical skill is achieved, science and art tend to coalesce in esthetics, plasticity, and form. The greatest scientists are always artists as well.”
“True religion is real living; living with all one's soul, with all one's goodness and righteousness.”
“When you examine the lives of the most influential people who have ever walked among us, you discover one thread that winds through them all. They have been aligned first with their spiritual nature and only then with their physical selves.”
“Feeling and longing are the motive forces behind all human endeavor and human creations.”
“If there is any religion that could respond to the needs of modern science, it would be Buddhism.”
“The distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion”
希望 Einstein 能 come into contact with vipassana
也衷心希望更多人知道 Buddha 從來沒有 set up a religion
and the real technique is lost
there is never the word 'buddhism' in the early text and teaching
Buddha
另外 Einstein 有一些 remind me about homeopathy 的 quote
“If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it”
“We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”
“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”
“There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.”

“Sometimes one pays most for the things one gets for nothing.”
“Everything should be as simple as it is, but not simpler.”
“When you sit with a nice girl for two hours, it seems like two minutes. When you sit on a hot stove for two minutes, it seems like two hours that's relativity.”

“Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen.”
“The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.”
“Never do anything against conscience, even if the state demands it”
“Everyone should be respected as an individual, but no one idolized.”
“If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts.”
“Anyone who doesn't take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either.”
“Force always attracts men of low morality.”
“The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive.”
“Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking”
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

“If most of us are ashamed of shabby clothes and shoddy furniture, let us be more ashamed of shabby ideas and shoddy philosophies... It would be a sad situation if the wrapper were better than the meat wrapped inside it.”

但是否 vipassana is work with internal natural body vibration
and Reiki is work with external body vibration (when the healer try to do a quick fix and send energy to the
patient)
Reiki Master have lost their minds when they practice vipassana
as two things will clash
然後 stick with it and practice
所以會繼續 stick to its practice
may you all be happy :)

Li & Fung Family Day at Ocean Park
cake cutting, toasting 等
Fung's elder brother 說了一篇 speech
我不知道那 speech 是 prepared by his PR or not
but it is a very good speech
and he say it really naturally like talking to people and don't like reading out a speech
整個 speech 重點是 family values and gratitude to those who support us (employees that support the company, and relatives and family that support the employee etc.)
為何不可學習 grateful 和培養 a mind of gratitude?
他說 being a businessman is not a problem,
one's has to earn an living
for oneself and for the others,
but we have to earn money honestly
as a businessman
we have to remember that we are not only working for ourselves and for those who depending on us
we are also supporting lives of our employees and those who depending on them
we shall understand we are part of the society
the society give us so much
and we shall return what we earn to the society
it becomes so natural that it becomes a natural way of living
when i saw the Fung's brother behaviour
I feel like returning my kindness to them
to express my gratitude
and to encourage their kind action
so when i went home
I wrote them a thank you letter and sent them a gift
May both of them be happy.
Li & Fung
